DUBUQUE ARBORETUM & BOTANICAL GARDENS

The Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens (DABG) was started in 1980 and it has transformed farm fields into the stunning 56-acre grounds we have today. DABG was started and is still maintained by around 300 volunteers. In 2023 DABG volunteers put in 19,855 hours. The total hours since we started keeping track in 1994 are 393,398 volunteer hours. In 2023 over 83,000 people globally visited DABG. There are over 15 different types of designated gardens that showcase thousands of different plantings and trees from all over the world. All our plantings are tagged for educational purposes, and DABG provides guests with educational and workshop opportunities. Over the last couple of years, organizational changes and expansion have resulted in immense growth. DABG has undertaken a master planning process which will help direct the staff, board, and volunteers in the next 20 years of development as DABG continues to advance their mission.
